Become a vital part of the City of Hamilton's team as a Financial Assistant I focused on budgeting and financial analysis.

This role offers up to 24 months of experience in public service accounting.

The City of Hamilton is looking for a Financial Assistant I to perform essential accounting and financial reporting functions under the guidance of the Business Administrator. Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong analytical and organizational skills while handling various budget-related tasks. You'll assist in reconciling accounts, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with funding agreements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process general ledger transactions and corrections

• Develop financial reports and metrics for client groups

• Assist in year-end budget variance analysis

• Maintain vendor invoices and contract payments

• Provide support for special projects as needed

Requirements:

• Business/accounting diploma or two years of coursework

• Experience in accounting and understanding of budgets

• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills

• Advanced proficiency in Excel for financial analysis

• Experience with People Soft is advantageous
