Description:
Indwell Housing Services is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounts Receivable Clerk to add to our growing finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent communication skills, and a dedication to accuracy and timeliness in financial transactions.

Indwell is the original organization and it birthed Flourish (a social purpose, affordable housing, development consultant) in 2021. The Indwell Family has recently expanded to include Gather Housing Communities (creating affordable housing communities) and Indwell Housing Services (provides administrative and functional services and support to the Indwell Family of Companies).
The Indwell Family of Companies is led by the CEO and governed by a board of directors that is mirrored for all four companies.
Location:
Full-time
40 hours per week, Monday
- Friday. 9am-5pm. Based at Hamilton Main Office: 1430 Main St. East.
- Billing: generate and send out invoices to municipalities that subsidize rent
- Processing tenant move outs and move ins
- Program Communication:
Provide support to programs and answer their accounting inquiries. - Prepare notices of rent increase for tenants and municipalities.
- Posting and reconciling rent receipts
- Collections:
Prepare monthly reporting for programs and assist them in monitoring their overdue accounts receivable - Account Reconciliation:
Reconcile accounts receivable ledger to ensure accuracy and completeness, investigating and resolving discrepancies as needed - Reporting:
Assist in preparing accounts receivable aging reports and other financial reports as required by management - Recordkeeping:
Maintain organized and up-to-date records of tenant accounts, billing statements, and payment history - Compliance:
Ensure compliance with company policies, lease agreements, and regulatory requirements related to accounts receivable processes - Support:
Provide support to the finance team as needed, including assisting with month-end close processes and participating in audits
- A commitment to upholding and modeling Indwell’s mission statement, values, and other operating standards and policies, reflecting them in all interactions and decisions
- Education:
Bachelor's degree or diploma in bookkeeping or accounting, or related field. - Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles. - Technical
Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, is essential. Experience with accounting software such as Yardi is a plus. - Attention to Detail:
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and recordkeeping. - Communication:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with tenants and internal stakeholders. - Organizational
Skills:
Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple deadlines, and work efficiently in a dynamic environment. - Problem-Solving:
