Quantity Surveyor

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial construction team. The successful candidate will bring strong expertise in cost management, procurement, and financial control across large-scale commercial projects. This role requires proven New Zealand experience in Tier 1 or 2 construction environments, with the ability to manage project finances from feasibility through to completion.

• Work across the entire estimation and contract QS process.
• Work on a variety of project sizes from $300K and up.
• Work on multiple projects at any one time.
• Prepare and manage project budgets, cost estimates, tendering, measure projects, and cashflow forecasts.
• Lead procurement processes, including subcontractor tendering, negotiation, and contract administration.
• Monitor project costs against budgets, identifying risks and opportunities to maintain financial control.
• Provide accurate progress claims, variations, and final accounts.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Site Managers, Engineers, and stakeholders to deliver commercially successful outcomes.
• Prepare detailed reports for senior management and clients.
• Ensure compliance with NZS
  3910 and other relevant construction contracts and standards.
• Contribute to continuous improvement in cost management systems and processes.

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent).
• Minimum 5+ years’ experience in commercial construction, with a Tier 1 or 2 main contractor in New Zealand.
• Strong knowledge of New Zealand construction contracts and procurement practices.
• Proven track record delivering cost management on commercial building projects ($2M+).
• Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• High level of accuracy with strong attention to detail.
• Effective communication and relationship-building skills.
