Project Manager - Responsibilities
We are seeking a driven Project Manager based in Stoney Creek, Ontario, supporting projects across Ontario with additional coverage in Ottawa and Montreal. Reporting to the VP MSS Canada East, the Project Manager will monitor and oversee safety, cost, schedule, QA/QC, and execution of work on various projects within their assigned area of responsibility.
Safety- Coordinate safety efforts for all major projects, using internal and external resources.
- Ensure that BOXX Modular safety standards and client expectations are communicated, maintained, and that sub‑contractors follow through on their responsibilities.
- Report incidents immediately to the VP MSS East and the Black Diamond Corporate Safety team, ensuring incident reporting policies are followed.
- Participate in risk and incident reviews as applicable.
- Negotiate and purchase material, services, and subcontracts for assigned projects.
- Work with customer representatives and vendors to facilitate timely and profitable completion of quality projects.
- Review project documents, perform site visits, attend pre‑bid meetings, and prepare detailed cost estimates.
- Coordinate vendor sourcing (factory, set‑up contractors, transportation).
- Manage budget and financial reporting, interpreting and analyzing reports to ensure adherence to the project budget.
- Maintain all project documentation as required, ensuring documentation is created and submitted to clients and subcontractors as needed.
- Create and maintain project schedule and ensure proper sequencing of construction activities for efficient consultant and subcontractor workflow.
- Attend scheduled meetings, including weekly operations meetings and progress meetings with subcontractors and customers.
- Prepare change order requests for customer approval; perform estimating for all change orders and document field directives that change the scope of work.
- Develop competitive pricing in the marketplace.
- Assist sales representatives in preparing proposals and presentations.
- Perform other job‑related duties assigned.
- Travel extensively within the work week, including occasional overnight travel.
- Completion of secondary school required.
- BS degree in construction management, engineering, or related discipline preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in construction, manufacturing, or modular industry.
- 3+ years of experience as a Project Manager or similar role.
- Fluency in English, both oral and written.
- Professional communication with internal and external clients.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, MS Project; experience with Procore preferred.
- Ability to review and interpret drawings and specifications.
- Ability to pass pre‑employment and random drug & alcohol tests on demand.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
