As a Collections Conservation Assistant, your responsibilities involve assisting the Senior Curator with accessioning, cataloging, and the conservation of artifacts. Key tasks include data entry, digital photography, conducting research, and managing artifact storage to uphold museum standards. You'll participate in preventive conservation projects and exhibit preparations while also supporting colleagues and interns in the museum community.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist with collections management and preventive conservation tasks
• Digitize artifacts using scanners and professional photography equipment
• Handle and pack artifacts according to museum standards
• Conduct research to provide context for artifact collection
• Support exhibit preparation and installation processes
Requirements:
• Post-secondary education in Museum Studies or related field
• Experience with collections management and artifact handling
• Familiarity with preventive conservation techniques
• Strong knowledge of computerized museum systems
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
