Student Walk Home Attendant Team; SWHAT - Walkers

The Student Walk Home Attendant Team (SWHAT) is a volunteer service within the McMaster Students Union that will walk or bus with users during the evening hours, seven days a week.

The SWHAT Walker is responsible for providing accompaniment for users walking on and off campus within the boundaries. Duties include walking or busing users, maintaining a positive image of the MSU, and ensuring safety and support during late evening travels.

• Provide accompaniment for requested walks.
• Maintain an appropriate and positive image of the MSU.
• Self‑check weather and travel conditions to ensure safe transportation.

• Able to walk/stand for long periods of time.
• Skills in verbal communication.
• Organization and time management skills.
• Teamwork.
• Punctuality.

• Late evenings.
• Walking/standing for long periods of time.
• Walking long distances and in unpleasant weather.
• Working conditions vary.

• Participation in SWHAT Walker training.

• Radio.
• Flashlight.
