Overview
The Student Walk Home Attendant Team (SWHAT) is a volunteer service within the McMaster Students Union that will walk or bus with users during the evening hours, seven days a week.
Role Description
The SWHAT Walker is responsible for providing accompaniment for users walking on and off campus within the boundaries. Duties include walking or busing users, maintaining a positive image of the MSU, and ensuring safety and support during late evening travels.
Responsibilities
Provide accompaniment for requested walks.
Maintain an appropriate and positive image of the MSU.
Self‑check weather and travel conditions to ensure safe transportation.
Skills and Abilities
Able to walk/stand for long periods of time.
Skills in verbal communication.
Organization and time management skills.
Teamwork.
Punctuality.
Working Conditions
Late evenings.
Walking/standing for long periods of time.
Walking long distances and in unpleasant weather.
Working conditions vary.
Training and Experience
Participation in SWHAT Walker training.
Equipment
Radio.
Flashlight.
