Destination America is seeking highly qualified individuals to fill the role of Travel Director/Travel Concierge for Canadian programs in the Eastern Canada/Maritimes regions for the 2024 season, which typically runs from May through September. Our brands include Trafalgar, Insight Vacations, Luxury Gold, and Costsaver, and we also operate trips for our key account partners under their brands. Individuals should be passionate about their province(s) of expertise, possess a desire to share knowledge and stories, be customer‑service‑centric, and be able to seamlessly manage every detail of our itineraries.
Applicants must be eligible to work in Canada.
- Effectively manage trip logistics and day‑to‑day operations for up to 52 guests on a coach, ensuring a seamless travel experience
- Utilize valuable judgement and ensure guest safety at all times
- Provide unparalleled and individualized customer service to each guest on the trip
- Craft and deliver enlightening and detailed stories and commentary in fluent English throughout the trip as a regional expert in the destination
- Utilize technology on the coach to enhance guests’ experience while travelling
- Keep an organized log to manage and collect trip funds for optional experiences and account for all trip expenses
- Build upon our strong relationships with our vendors and various partners, both internally and externally
- Work closely and collectively with our Operations team while also making effective decisions as needed
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, the internet, email, and social media
- Strong technical abilities and able to utilize an iPad and various applications and learn various internal platforms
- Administrative, organizational, and basic accounting skills
- Fluent in English
- Excellent customer service skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to interact with vendors and guests from various countries, cultures, and ages
- Vision correctable to 20/20 with reasonable accommodation required
- Can lift 20 lbs with reasonable accommodation and be able to sit and stand for long periods of time, walk frequently and for long distances, and adapt to long working hours for 10 to 20 days at a time
- Between 3-5 years of over‑road experience leading multi‑national groups preferred
- Travel Certificates, Tour Director/Guide Certificate preferred. ITMI, Trip School, or IGA certification strongly preferred
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to multitask
- Leadership qualities, high emotional intelligence, cultural sensitivity, and a thorough understanding of Canadian history, politics, and culture, as well as a working knowledge of international and domestic current events
- Prior experience in the destination and eligible to work in Canada
