Reporting to the Cultural Heritage Program Lead, you'll play a vital role in the Heritage and Urban Design Section. Candidates should possess a degree in Planning or a related field along with experience in heritage conservation. You will review applications, research heritage properties, and provide guidance to property owners and committees.
Key Responsibilities:
• Analyze applications for heritage alterations and demolitions
• Research buildings for designation under the Ontario Heritage Act
• Conduct site visits and document findings via photography
• Support the Hamilton Municipal Heritage Committee's efforts
• Prepare reports and implementation strategies for heritage
Requirements:
• Degree in Planning, Architectural History, or relevant field
• Full Membership in a heritage-related organization is ideal
• Ability to advise on preservation and funding strategies
• Strong knowledge of the Ontario Heritage Act and Planning Act
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Drive heritage preservation in Hamilton and influence the future of the city's architectural landscape through expert planning.
