Schedule: Monday
- Friday; 8:30 - 4:30 (35 hours per week)

Education Level: Bachelor's degree in education, business, human resources, or a related field;
Master's degree preferred.

About the Position

Reporting to the Director, Outreach and Engagement, the Associate Director leads the Centre for Career Growth & Experience and shapes the future of career, co‑op, work‑integrated learning and skill‑development programming across the Faculty of Engineering. This role provides strategic leadership to a cross‑functional team, strengthens partnerships with academic leaders and employers, advances innovative and scalable student supports, and ensures programs remain responsive to emerging workforce needs.

Working closely with the Associate Deans, Undergraduate and Graduate, the Associate Director supports seamless academic progression, high‑quality co‑op pathways, and continued alignment with national accreditation standards.

Key Accountabilities

Strategic & People Leadership

Build and present a strategic vision for the Centre to the Director of Outreach and Engagement, ensuring alignment with Faculty and University goals.

Develop and execute comprehensive strategic plans that drive innovation and growth in work‑integrated learning, co‑curricular experiences, and career services.

Lead and manage a cross‑functional team, fostering career development, collaboration, and a supportive work environment for TMG leaders and unionized employees.

Foster a culture of continuous quality improvement and set organizational goals and objectives with performance metrics to measure progress and success.

Oversee competitor analyses and market research to stay ahead of industry trends, ensuring program relevance by continuously reviewing student behaviours, skill needs, motivations, and workplace priorities.

Utilize data analytics and assessment tools to continuously evaluate the effectiveness of career services programs, identifying areas for improvement and making data‑driven decisions.

Oversee issues management by resolving conflicts and reassessing operations and strategies to mitigate future risks, ensuring continuous improvement and alignment with institutional goals.

Collaborate with Recruitment and Communications leaders to devise marketing strategies that advance the Faculty of Engineering's strategic mission and vision.

Lead the department's EDI efforts, ensuring that career and work‑integrated learning services and programming are accessible, inclusive, and responsive to the unique needs of underrepresented and marginalized student groups.

Programming and Service Development, Delivery, and Enhancement

Develop and implement scalable career development solutions to equip students throughout the student life cycle.

Develop and enforce policies to ensure work‑integrated learning aligns with the undergraduate calendar, University regulations, and CEWIL standards.

Oversee the design, delivery, and enhancement of co‑op, career, and student engagement programs to meet evolving student and employer needs.

Provide direction and support to managers with respect to student escalations and issues arising from domestic and international work‑integrated learning experiences.

Implement systems to measure and enhance program impact and student learning outcomes, using data‑driven approaches to inform strategic decisions.

Lead management staff in developing and delivering advanced career and employment services aligned with strategic priorities for diverse undergraduate and graduate students.

Lead the strategy for career curriculum development and evaluation for key courses and workshops, ensuring academic rigor and practical relevance.

Strategize and direct the delivery of over 50 student recruitment and networking events annually, ensuring alignment with best practices and institutional goals.

Maintain strong relationships with students, student leaders, faculty, university leaders, campus partners, employers, alumni, and industry.
