ResponsibilitiesIntroduction to foundations of music, including principles of written musical notation, and aural identification of musical structures (such as rhythms, and diatonic intervals, melodies, and harmonies). This course is not intended for students with significant theory or ear training background.
Three lectures; one term
- Professional and educational background in the field; DMA or PhD (or near completion) or equivalent professional experience.
- A commitment to incorporating principles of equity, diversity and inclusion in teaching practice.
- Previous experience teaching at the university level.

Additional InformationMC 1CR3 – Foundations of Music I is offered in the 2026‑2027 academic session (Fall 2026: September 8 to December 10, 2026, Exam Period: December 11 to 23, 2026) with one term, one section, and 3 units per section. The schedule is Wednesday from 12:30 pm to 1:20 pm and Monday from 12:30 pm to 2:20 pm (time(s) and location(s) are subject to change according to timetable updates).
This position is scheduled to pay $9,435.73 (as per current rate in schedule “A” of the CUPE, Local 3906, Unit 2 Collective Agreement).
