Course Description / Relevant Employment Duties

This course introduces techniques, theories, and practices for recording, arranging, and composing music within the framework of a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW). Emphasis will be placed on the creative application of musical concepts, forms, theories, and performance practices involving acoustic, synthesized, virtual, or vocal instruments. Students taking this class should have experience in music‑making.

Three lectures; one term.

Required Qualifications
  • Professional and educational background in the field; DMA or PhD (or near completion) or equivalent professional experience.
  • Commitment to incorporating principles of equity, diversity and inclusion in teaching practice.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience teaching at the university level.
