Hours of Work: M-F, 8:30 to 4:30, flexible (20 – 24 hours per week, based on program needs)

Organizational Overview
Since 1986, Neighbour to Neighbour (N2N) Centre has worked to improve quality of life in the Hamilton community. What began as a small food bank has grown into a multi-service organization addressing food insecurity, educational gaps, and broader social needs through access to healthy food, skill-building programs, tutoring for children, utility support, counselling, and other essential services.

N2N operates with a small staff team and is supported by more than 400 dedicated community volunteers. We are neighbours supporting neighbours, guided by collaboration, respect, and community connection.

Position Summary
The ideal candidate will be passionate about education and volunteerism. The office/Programs Coordinator will be responsible for the administrative tasks of the education department and will be the main point of contact between schools and volunteers for the Deban Brunette Literacy Program (DBLP). Each year, we operate in 14-16 schools and have ~8 volunteers per school. The position requires the use of a vehicle and some local travel.

Key Role Responsibilities
Administrative & Materials

Answer and direct general inquiries that come into the Education Department

Distribute emails, messages, and mail to the appropriate volunteers, clients, and other staff

Prepare school schedules, contact lists, calendars, and volunteer timesheets.

Prepare and distribute materials related to the DBLP

Volunteer Support

Maintain up-to-date information on volunteers related to contact and vulnerable sector screenings

Confirm volunteer shifts and implement them into the school schedules

Assist with the planning and facilitation of volunteer trainings

Provide support and information to volunteers as requested

Ensure volunteers have all materials necessary to complete their duties

Coordinate end of year celebration events for volunteers and the Education Department

Schools and Students

Work with school staff to coordinate scheduling of program and use of space

Provide schools with enrollment sheets, selection criteria and program consent forms

Collect and maintain records of enrolled students

Maintain regular contact with schools to ensure that the program is running smoothly

Coordinate success celebrations with schools

Experience

Administrative experience: 2 years (required)

Microsoft Office: 2 years (preferred)

Volunteer coordination or volunteering: 2 years (preferred)

Working with Children: 2 years (preferred)

Requirements

Ability to receive a clear Vulnerable Sector Screening

Access to a vehicle and valid drivers’ license
