Job Description
The Department of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster University, and Hamilton Health Sciences invite applications for an Academic Physician with expertise in Thrombosis Medicine. This is a full-time research-educator faculty position for a period of three years (renewable). Academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
The successful candidate will be a full-time member of the Division of Hematology & Thromboembolism and is expected to contribute to the academic mission of the Faculty and Division and participate in all appropriate departmental and divisional educational activities.
This is a research educator position, and t he successful candidate will lead studies on cancer-associated thrombosis and hemophilia bleeding risks while participating in multi-centre clinical trials. Applicants need expertise in inpatient and outpatient consultative Thrombosis Medicine, with preference given to those with fellowship training in Adult Thrombosis Medicine and advanced training in Health Research Methodology.
Cli nical activity related to patient care will account for approximately 30% of the successful candidate’s time. Expertise in managing venous and arterial thromboembolism is required, with particular emphasis on cancer-associated thrombosis and anticoagulant management related to cardiac disease.
Applicants should be certified (or eligible for certification) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the Province of Ontario.
