Family Ministries Pastor - Level Church, 725 Hwy 8, Stoney Creek, Ontario Canada

5-10 hours per week to start. Compensation:
Hourly rate based on experience and qualifications.

Level Church exists to make level paths for people to encounter Jesus through worship, discipleship and mission. “Strengthen your feeble hands and weak knees. Make level paths for your feet, so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed.” (Hebrews 12:12-13) We are a new church plant in Stoney Creek, Ontario that launched March 2026. Our six core values are:

• To faithfully lead and strengthen the children and family ministry of Level Church by equipping the saints for the work of the ministry.
• To make level paths for children and families to encounter Jesus, by 1. Their Christian character and example, saying “follow me as I follow Christ” (1 Cor. 11:1)
• By 2. Enthusiastic participation as a member at Level Church and in our community.
• By 3. Recruiting and equipping volunteers to effectively staff children’s ministry classrooms.
• By 4. Partnering with parents to equip them in spiritual formation of their children.
• By 5. Creating opportunities for worship, discipleship, and mission for children and families.

Leadership and Vision

• Cast vision for and invite people into a kids’ ministry where kids encounter Jesus — through worship, discipleship and mission.
• Attend weekly Level Church staff meetings.
• Attend yearly leadership/vision retreat for Level Church leadership.
• Attend yearly Western Ontario District Ministers’ Gathering as church budget allows.
• Attend other district/national events as church budget allows.
• Other duties as assigned.

Volunteer and Equipping

• Enthusiastically build relationships with parents in the church and kids’ ministry volunteers.
• Recruit and onboard volunteers, with Abuse Prevention training and police checks.
• Ensure all volunteer screenings and yearly refreshers are up-to-date.
• Create Planning Centre schedules to cover all Sunday classroom needs.
• Communicate regularly with volunteers and parents to encourage and equip.
• Spearhead occasional Kids Ministry Team Nights and Parents events.
• Other duties as assigned.

Programming/Calendar Objectives

• Teach or assist in Sunday kids’ ministry and child dedication services.
• Work towards a rhythm of taking 1 Sunday per month to sit in service personally, by having kids’ ministry fully staffed by volunteers on those Sundays.
• Ensure curriculum, children’s ministry rooms and resources are prepared for Sunday kids’ ministry and events.
• Grow in preaching by occasional scheduled preaching dates as part of sermon series at Level Church. Mentoring and equipping is available here.
• Other duties as assigned.

Candidate Profile

• Full alignment with and personal character that shows the mission, vision, and six core values of Level Church.
• Lives in the Hamilton area or willing to relocate to the Hamilton area.
• Reliable with strong initiative and self-motivation.
• A growth mindset that embraces change — through prayer, information, and wise advice.
• Good judgement and ability to show discretion and care.
• Has a healthy, encouraging, and co‑operative relationship with staff, volunteers and parents.
• A growing ability to lead, manage, and equip teams.
• Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

• Bible college student or graduates preferred, all education relevant to this position will be considered. Priority will be given to candidates with credentials in the PAOC or pursuing education with the goal of credentialed ministry in the PAOC.
