Educational Assistant Special Needs

Support diverse student needs as an Educational Assistant with the Upper Grand District School Board at Centre Wellington District High School. This temporary full-time role requires patience, flexibility, and physical ability.

Reporting to the school Principal, you will support students with behavioural, safety, medical, and physical needs. The work includes individual and group settings, collaboration with teachers, parents, and Administration, and assistance for students with complex needs. The assignment is 1.0 FTE, totaling 32.50 hours weekly.

• Support students’ behavioural, safety, medical, and physical needs
• Lift, toilet, position, and transfer children and equipment
• Apply Behaviour Management Systems techniques when required
• Work individually or in group settings with students
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and Administration

• Educational Assistant Diploma or equivalent education and experience
• Valid Behaviour Management Systems certification
• Recent experience supporting special needs and behavioural disabilities
• Autism Spectrum Disorder and lifting or positioning training
• Ability to perform essential physical duties and attend schools
