The Project Coordinator will support key coordination tasks, tracking progress and ensuring smooth communication across the project team. This role requires strong organizational skills, proactive problem‑solving, and the ability to support project leadership in a fast‑paced, multi‑stakeholder environment. It focuses on the Hamilton LRT Alliance project, a development partner for the Hamilton LRT – Package 1:
Civil & Utilities, where Aecon provides construction capability and resources as part of an integrated team working collaboratively with all alliance participants.
What you’ll do here
Plan and implement an engineering and construction program, defining the project plan, activities, milestones, and labour requirements.
Develop and maintain the project schedule and budget—control spending.
Read and understand the project contract.
Provide status reports for project milestones and adjustments to schedules.
Identify changes to the project schedule and their impacts (e.g., contract impact).
Identify project labour requirements and coordinate labour with appropriate trades and subcontractors.
Coordinate preparation and delivery of project deliverables (e.g., design documents, as‑built drawings).
Review project design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
Coordinate activities related to technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems.
Evaluate and recommend design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
Interface with customers to provide project status reports and ensure customer needs are met.
Provide status and progress reports to customer, project team, and management.
Forecast and track change orders and scope changes.
Assist and monitor safety programs and statistics as required.
Write and review purchase specifications and subcontract documents.
Actively involve in quality assurance with regards to understanding and implementing policies and procedures.
Provide estimating and project management back‑up as required.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor or manager.
Develop and write reports, business correspondence.
What you bring to the team
Post‑secondary education in Construction or Engineering discipline or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
1‑5 years of experience in project engineering or a heavy construction environment.
Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Proficiency in construction‑industry software such as Primavera Scheduling software and AutoCAD.
Prior ERP experience, especially with SAP, is an asset.
Mobility essential; willing to travel to project locations.
On‑site presence five days per week.
Pay Range: $65,000 - $95,000 (individual pay is determined based on work location, education, experience, skills and job conditions).
