Aecon is a leading Canadian infrastructure developer. This position will support planning and design of temporary work structures for the Hamilton LRT project and supervise early works during implementation.
Project OverviewThe Hamilton LRT – Package 1:
Civil & Utilities is a partnership with Metrolinx. Aecon provides construction capability as part of an integrated team, working collaboratively with alliance participants to progress design, cost, and construction schedules.
- Work closely with the project team to understand their needs and prepare designs for temporary structures.
- Collaborate with external engineers and internal team to create detailed technical drawings and schematics.
- Generate material take‑off and bill of materials where necessary.
- Conduct quality checks on completed work to identify errors or discrepancies.
- Design, plan, and supervise all temporary works, including excavation, shoring, bracing, formwork, falsework, scaffolding, retaining walls, protection structures, foundations for temporary structures such as hoarding, working platforms, hard‑stands or other concrete structures during construction.
- Provide status and progress reports to customer, project team, and management.
- Interface with client representatives, design engineers, consultants, other contractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure the project is constructed in accordance with QA programs and project quality requirements.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
- Post‑secondary education in an engineering civil discipline.
- Professional engineer (P.Eng) required.
- 7+ years of experience in design of temporary structures and detailing.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills in communicating with a large team.
- Organizational and time‑management skills, ability to prioritize and multitask.
- Thrives in a fast‑paced environment.
Pay Range
: $90,000 - $115,000 (individual pay determined by location, education, experience, unique skills, and job conditions).
