About us

Skygauge Robotics is transforming industrial inspections through advanced drone technology. Our team develops and deploys innovative robotic inspection solutions that help customers safely inspect critical infrastructure across industries including energy, utilities, manufacturing, and heavy industry.

About the role

Skygauge Robotics is seeking a Staff Pilot to support customer deployments, industrial inspections, testing activities, and flight operations across North America and internationally. This position is suited for an individual with hands‑on drone operations experience who is comfortable working in industrial environments, travelling regularly, and representing the company at customer sites. The successful candidate will work closely with customers, engineers, and fellow pilots to execute safe, professional, and efficient drone operations.

This is a hybrid field and office‑based role. In addition to supporting customer operations, the Staff Pilot will play a key role in testing, validating, and certifying newly manufactured equipment prior to customer delivery. Travel is expected to account for approximately 30–40% of the year and may include both domestic and international deployments, with a significant portion of customer operations taking place throughout the United States.

What

you’ll do
  • Execute commercial drone operations in support of customer deployments, inspections, demonstrations, testing, and training activities.
  • Travel to customer sites throughout North America and internationally as required.
  • Conduct pre‑flight planning, site assessments, risk evaluations, and mission preparation activities.
  • Ensure aircraft, payloads, batteries, chargers, tools, and supporting equipment are mission‑ready.
  • Support customers before, during, and after deployments to ensure successful project execution.
  • Collect, organize, and document operational data and mission records.
  • Troubleshoot drone systems and supporting equipment in the field.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Quality, and Operations teams to support product development and operational excellence.
  • Perform acceptance testing, operational validation, and certification of newly manufactured equipment prior to customer shipment.
  • Document test results, identify deficiencies, and work with internal teams to resolve issues before equipment is released for deployment.
  • Support customer demonstrations and training activities.
  • Maintain compliance with company procedures, aviation regulations, and site‑specific safety requirements.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of operational procedures, training materials, testing processes, and deployment workflows.
What we’re looking for
  • Previous experience conducting commercial drone operations.
  • Experience working in industrial, construction, utilities, energy, manufacturing, mining, or similar field environments.
  • Strong understanding of flight planning, risk assessment, and safe operational practices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment and solve problems in both field and office environments.
  • Excellent communication and customer‑facing skills.
  • Comfortable travelling approximately 30–40% of the year, including international travel.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow testing procedures and produce accurate operational documentation.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel internationally when required.
Preferred qualifications
  • Advanced RPAS Certificate (Canada).
  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate (USA).
  • Experience performing industrial inspections or technical data collection missions.
  • Experience working around critical infrastructure and industrial facilities.
  • Experience with equipment testing, quality assurance, commissioning, or acceptance testing.
  • Experience delivering customer demonstrations or training.
  • Familiarity with enterprise drone platforms, mission planning software, and inspection workflows.
  • Mechanical, technical, aviation, NDE, robotics, or field‑service experience.
Why join us?
  • Work with industry‑leading robotic inspection technology.
  • Participate in challenging deployments across a wide variety of industries and environments.
  • Collaborate with a highly skilled team of engineers, pilots, and technical specialists.
  • Contribute directly to the advancement of industrial drone inspection technology.
  • Join a growing company that is redefining how critical infrastructure is inspected.

If you’re passionate about drone technology, industrial operations, and solving real‑world challenges with innovative robotics, we’d love to hear from you.
