Intermediate Roadway Designer

Brampton, Markham, London or Hamilton, ON.

As a member of the Transportation team based in Ontario, you will work on various roadway/highway projects.

• Prepare preliminary design reports (PDR), design criteria, preliminary and detailed designs for new and rehabilitation of divided highways, arterial regional roads, collector roads, and local roads.
• Prepare preliminary designs for CADD staff and review drawings for compliance with applicable industry and client standards.
• Prepare Contract Specifications, Tender Documents, and Applications for Agency Approvals.
• Review and issue finalized Shop Drawings.
• Coordinate and mentor junior staff within the division.
• Liaise with Clients, Sub-consultants, Contractors and construction supervision staff.
• Assist with preparation of Proposals for future projects.

• Proficiency with Micro Station, Open Roads, AutoCAD, Civil 3D. Experience with earlier versions of Micro Station and Inroads considered.
• Strong computer software skills with Project Wise, Word, Excel & MS Project.
• Highly proficient in the use of MTO’s software applications CPS and HiCo.
• Comprehensive knowledge of MTO and Metrolinx standards, including various Municipal & Regional design and drafting standards.
• Skilled in cost estimating, quantity preparation and specification writing.
• Track record of gaining approval of infrastructure designs from MTO, roads authorities and environmental agencies.
• Independent, organized and motivated team player with excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and deliver projects under stringent schedules in a fast‑paced turnaround environment.
• At least 5-7 years of experience.

Salary range: $80,739–$107,026.
