Position Overview

JNE Consulting is currently seeking a full-time Electrical Engineer with a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) to join our Hamilton office.

The successful candidate will lead electrical engineering and design activities while collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams. This position requires strong technical knowledge, leadership skills, and the ability to guide projects from design development through successful execution.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor teams of engineers and designers effectively and efficiently
  • Lead electrical design activities for multidisciplinary projects
  • Coordinate with senior engineers, project managers, and other disciplines to support design development and project execution
  • Lead and participate in project design, layout, and engineering activities
  • Develop, complete, and review critical design calculations, systems, and equipment specifications
  • Prepare, review, and approve engineering design documents, reports, and drawings
  • Complete code reviews and develop designs in accordance with applicable legislation, industry codes, standards, and client requirements
  • Specify electrical components, systems, hardware, and proprietary equipment
  • Review, approve, and stamp engineering documents as required by legislation
  • Develop project budgets, schedules, estimates, and proposals
  • Define, monitor, and revise project scopes of work as required
  • Support the successful delivery of projects while maintaining quality, budget, and schedule requirements
Required Skills and Experience
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Autodesk AutoCAD and Revit
  • Experience executing projects using 3D design software
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word
  • Experience with Microsoft Project is considered an asset
  • Ability and willingness to learn new software, applications, and technical skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Strong logical, analytical, and creative problem-solving skills
  • Organized, self-directed, and focused on achieving tasks and project goals
  • Professional, effective, and efficient in the execution of responsibilities
  • Knowledge of additional engineering disciplines is considered an asset
  • Experience with medium- and high-voltage power system design, including substations, pole lines, relaying, protection, and control, is considered an asset
  • Experience with low- and medium-voltage variable-frequency drive motor control specifications and applications is considered an asset
Qualifications and Education
  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent discipline
  • Minimum of five years of relevant engineering experience, including experience leading teams and projects
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario is required
  • Professional engineering licensure in the United States or other Canadian provinces or territories is considered an asset
Compensation

Base Salary: $63,000-$101,000 CAD annually, based on experience and qualifications.
