Role Overview

City Kidz is seeking Theatre Tech Crew Volunteers to provide technical theatre support for our Saturday program sessions. As a Tech Team Member you will operate sound, computer, and light equipment for City Kidz Saturday studio shows, creating a fun and inspiring environment for children aged 6‑11.

Responsibilities
  • Develop the skills necessary for operating Tech Team equipment, including studio lighting, computer presentation software, and sound boards.
  • Participate in show rehearsals with the City Kidz theatre team to familiarize yourself with show dynamics and equipment operation.
  • Operate Tech Team equipment during City Kidz Saturday studio shows, ensuring smooth execution and creating an engaging atmosphere.
  • Work in cooperation with Tech Team staff and fellow Tech Team members, cast members, and show leadership to coordinate cues and transitions effectively.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working with or willingness to learn the skills needed for operating studio lighting, computer presentation software, and/or a sound board, with training provided as necessary (preferred)
  • Basic competence in operating a computer, including familiarity with computer software and navigation
  • Must be physically able to climb the Tech booth ladder in the City Kidz theatre to access equipment and control panels (required)
  • Ability to be attentive and responsive to show leadership and show dynamics, adjusting cues and settings as needed to enhance the show experience
  • Ability to operate Tech Team equipment during City Kidz Saturday studio shows, ensuring smooth execution and creating an engaging atmosphere for the audience
  • Ability to work well in cooperation with Tech Team staff and fellow members, cast members, and show leadership to coordinate cues and transitions effectively

Time Commitment

Minimum two seasons, equivalent to eight months, for at least one session per month, preferably biweekly. Saturdays through March – June and September – December.

Shifts:

Tuesdays 7‑9 p.m. for rehearsal, and Saturdays 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. for performance.
