Animal Control Officer

Join the City of Hamilton as an Animal Control Officer, enforcing animal control by-laws and resolving animal-related complaints. This role combines municipal law enforcement with proactive animal welfare.

As an Animal Control Officer, you'll report to the Supervisor of Municipal Law Enforcement while focusing on dog control, licensing, and various regulations. This position requires you to investigate complaints, gather evidence for court cases, and enforce provisions under the Dog Owners Liability Act. Regular patrolling and good public relations skills are essential for success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Investigate and enforce Municipal By-Laws

• Gather evidence and prepare reports for court

• Patrol districts regularly to ensure compliance

• Issue warnings, notices, and summonses

• Rescue and care for animals in distress

Requirements:

• Experience in by-law enforcement

• Ability to handle all types of animals

• Knowledge of Provincial Offences Act

• Must maintain a valid Class "G" Driver's License

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
