Unit Summary
The CIBC Breast Assessment Centre (BAC) is a multidisciplinary organized breast assessment centre bringing together expertise in radiology, pathology, surgery, medical radiation technology, ultrasound, nursing and genetic counselling. The CIBC BAC will provide rapid diagnostic evaluation to women who are symptomatic and/or have a screen-detected abnormality identified through routine breast screening or cancer surveillance screening and ensure timely navigation to surgical or medical treatment.
The CIBC BAC will provide radiological support for breast surgical procedures.
As a member of a multi disciplinary Health Care team, the Technologist performs and assesses mammographic images, to produce high quality diagnostic images. Participates in planning and organizing patient activities related to breast screening and diagnostic assessment. Provides optimum patient care and demonstrates a professional manner in the work setting. Assists in related activities as required.
Schedule Work Hours Days, evenings, weekends and holidays as requiredQualifications
1. Current registration and good standing with the College of Medical Radiation Technologists of Ontario (CMRTO) required
2. Able to demonstrate successful completion Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) Mammography I and II or process of acquiring successful completion.
3. Successful completion Certificate of Breast Imaging (CBI) required or in process of acquiring successful completion within a mutually agreed upon time frame.
4. Minimum of 5 years recent experience as a practicing Mammographer, with advanced skill supporting radiologist in complex procedures including stereotactic biopsies, needle localization and radioactive seed placement and protocol exams for assessment
5. Comprehensive knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for Medical Imaging practitioners established by the CAMRT and/or other relevant professional associations.
6. Demonstrated knowledge of Canadian Association of Radiologists Mammography Accreditation Program (MAP).
7. Demonstrated effective communication, organization and interpersonal skills
8. Demonstrated good computer skills (Eg. Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office, Meditech, PACS).
9. Demonstrated ability to work responsibly in a team environment and to handle stress and conflict management in a professional, effective manner.
10. Ability to deal effectively with clients and their families, coworkers, physicians and staff.
11. Evidence of participation in on-going education and professional development.
12. Certified with Ontario Breast Screening Program 13. Current membership in the CAMRT/ OAMRS preferred 14. Commitment to meet goals and objectives of department
