The Tasmanian Department of Health is seeking passionate and skilled clinicians to join our specialist Alcohol and Drug Community Counselling Service in an out‑patient setting. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary team delivering high‑quality, evidence‑based care to individuals affected by alcohol and other drug use.

Deliver a high‑quality alcohol and other drug treatment service in accordance with relevant Government Legislation and Regulations, Primary Health Care Principles, Alcohol and Drug Service (ADS) policies, procedures and protocols and relevant professional competencies.
Provides specialist clinical assessments, treatment, counselling and case management services Alcohol and Drug Service clients utilising evidence‑based best practice principles within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework.
Provides a specialist assessment and treatment service for people with multiple and complex needs, including co‑morbidity of alcohol and other drug and mental health issues, and their families in accordance with discipline‑specific skills and abilities.
Acts as a consultant to other agencies regarding the support and management of clients with alcohol and other drug needs and promotes community awareness in relation to alcohol and other drug.
The Alcohol and Other Drug Senior Counsellor- Provides a specialised, comprehensive, evidence‑based clinical assessment, treatment and assertive case‑management service to clients, including their families/carers, who have issues with alcohol and/or other drugs and support referral and liaison with relevant service providers.
- Undertake clinical documentation in line with organisational and professional requirements, including maintaining effective record‑keeping on clients, and produce clear, well‑presented treatment reports to the Team Leader ADS as required.
- Actively support, contribute to and participate in ongoing quality assurance programmes, including approved research, incident reporting and evaluation, internal audits, and policy and procedure review, as well as the development, implementation and evaluation of specialised alcohol and other drug psychosocial treatment programmes.

One permanent part‑time, day worker position, working 60.8 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full‑time, part‑time, and casual vacancies.
Salary$110,425 to $121,907 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No.2 of 2022.
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
Allowances- Please note that access to salaries beyond $119,290 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme.
