Reports to the Senior Project Manager, Business Systems in the Transportation Division. Facilitates the effective use of business technologies, databases, and applications to meet the needs of both internal and external corporate clients.

Through project and operational roles, this position undertakes business system requirement analysis, functional design specifications, technical design specifications, development and implementation of applications and supporting technologies and documentation, user training and general user support.

The Applications Analyst works with various user groups to leverage and improve existing or new software applications, including Maintenance Management Systems, Asset Management, Mobile Technology, and Geographical Information Systems (GIS). This is accomplished through continual improvement initiatives, data analysis, systems configuration and integration, reporting, workflow design/documentation, and enabling efficient data collection and management processes.

Analyzes, designs, develops, implements, maintains, and integrates numerous maintenance, asset, and GIS-enabled municipal business applications, including special and ad hoc projects for the Transportation Division and Public Works Department.

Collaborates on the development, implementation, and maintenance of Infrastructure Management application development standards and the development and review of business specification and design documents for both in‑house and contracted application development.

Ensures that security policies and data standards are applied and effective by analyzing, designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining standard workflows, audit systems, and application accesses.

Analyzes and reconciles conflicting data from spatial or relational database sources, records and coordinates solutions to complex technical problems related to SharePoint, maintenance and asset management systems, GIS databases, and applications, and recommends necessary enhancements.

Creates and maintains custom applications using programming and spatial and relational database knowledge, designs queries to identify data that supports business needs, compiles results into special data reports, and creates custom thematic maps.

Utilizes FME to design, develop, and maintain data integration workflows, including transformation, validation, and automation of data between corporate applications and external systems to ensure consistency and interoperability.

Develops, implements, and supports API‑based integrations between corporate systems and external applications, including the design, configuration, testing, and maintenance of secure data exchanges.

Identifies training needs, develops training programs, coordinates and conducts training for the user community, and maintains online metadata and application help databases.

Liaises with other functional sections regarding network and database security, client support, data management, project and resource management, and customer relationships related to application implementation, use, and maintenance.

Collaborates on cross‑functional teams with other City staff and consultants involved in application development projects across the Corporation.
