High School Diploma or equivalent.

Job SummaryUnder general supervision, the Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment in an assigned campus location. Following prescribed procedures, performs general cleaning duties, waste disposal, recycling, and the moving of light furniture.
Primary Accountabilities- Perform a variety of cleaning duties for campus locations, including dusting, glass cleaning, washing, and disinfecting.
- Perform floor care maintenance: cleaning with auto scrubber, sweeping, mopping, burnishing, and waxing.
- Perform carpet care and cleaning.
- Assist with moving light furniture and equipment.
- Complete general waste disposal and recycling.
- Perform snow shoveling in inclement weather.
- Assist with conference guest room servicing, including maintaining linens, supplies, and cleaning.
- Update and maintain cleaning logs.
- Operate within established security, health and safety regulations.
- Communicate with fellow workers, faculty, students, staff, and visitors respectfully and effectively.
- Perform job assignments efficiently and effectively in a position of trust.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: 3 months of related experience.
- Lift and carry equipment and supplies up to 50 lbs.
- Stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Work in awkward positions while performing cleaning duties.
- Work in university-owned buildings and surrounding grounds.
- Exposure to inclement weather, dust, odors, and dirt.
- Work independently, in teams, alone, or in isolated environments.
- Wear personal protective equipment (e.g., goggles) when handling cleaning chemicals.
May be required to be a day-to-day resource on work procedures to students and casual staff.
