Responsibilities
- Facility Maintenance:
Ensure the cleanliness of production floors, workstations, and surrounding areas by sweeping, mopping, and removing debris.
- Waste Disposal:
Collect, sort, and dispose of scrap metals, chemicals, and other industrial waste in compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Support Production Team:
Assist with minor tasks such as transporting materials, cleaning equipment, and organizing work spaces.
- Chemical Spill Response:
Assist in cleaning up minor chemical spills and reporting larger spills or safety hazards to supervisors immediately.
- Tools and Equipment Care:
Clean and maintain tools, ensuring they are stored properly and ready for use.
- Safety Compliance:
Follow all safety guidelines and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Documentation:
Keep records of cleaning schedules and report any maintenance needs or hazards to supervisors.
Education and Certifications
- Must be a current student enrolled in high school, trade school, or a post-secondary institution.
Qualifications
Prior experience in an industrial setting is a plus, but not required. This role provides training and exposure to the steel pickling process.
- Basic Understanding of Safety Procedures:
Knowledge of basic industrial safety practices is preferred but not required. Training will be provided.
- Physical Ability:
Must be able to perform physical tasks, including lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), standing for long periods, and working in a noisy, industrial environment.
- Team Player:
Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with a team.
- Attention to Detail:
Must be diligent in maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
