City Caretaker Role

Become a part of the City of Hamilton's team as a Caretaker, supporting community living through essential cleaning and maintenance services in inclusive public housing. This role, available in a five-day work model including weekends, is crucial for maintaining community standards.

As a Caretaker, you will report to the Supervisor of Building Services and undertake daily cleaning tasks across City Housing properties. Your responsibilities include keyholder duties, thorough cleaning protocols, and routine maintenance inspections. This position ensures a welcoming environment for residents while addressing health and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide general cleaning of City Housing buildings

• Assist with pest control preparation and clean-up

• Vacuum, mop, and polish various surfaces and floors

• Empty waste containers and manage recycling bins

• Report building deficiencies and maintain safety compliance

Requirements:

• Previous cleaning experience is preferred

• Knowledge of cleaning materials and equipment

• Valid Class 'G' Driver's Licence

• Good communication skills for tenant interaction

• Ability to understand safety legislation like WHMIS
