Key Responsibilities:
The Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for the overall supervision of skilled trades in a unionized manufacturing environment (millwrights, electricians, combustion/HVAC technicians, chief engineer, lubricators and other trades as per business requirements).
Responsible for contractors hired by the company to execute preventative, corrective maintenance and capital investment projects initiatives. Contractor management includes permit compliance, contractor orientation, lockout verification, safety oversight, work acceptance, and project close-out.
Ensure associate’s safety and overall compliance to the OHSA (Ontario Health and Safety Act) and all additional safety standards deployed by Grupo Bimbo and Bimbo Canada at the production site.
Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements including OHSA, ESA, TSSA, CFIA and corporate engineering standards.
Lead execution of maintenance shutdowns, major equipment overhauls and production line outages while ensuring safety, quality and schedule compliance.
Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement and associate’s engagement within the maintenance team.
Ensure efficient operation with a high level of reliability for the building, facilities/utilities and production assets, involving preventative/predictive/corrective maintenance tactics, cost control, safety, product quality and food safety standards compliance.
Drive root cause analysis (RCA) activities for chronic failures and significant downtime events. Lead implementation of corrective and preventative actions to improve asset reliability.
Attendance at daily management systems meetings (DMS) i.e. Gemba walks, safety and food safety inspections, lean meetings, maintenance weekly meetings, crew talks and other communication mechanisms to present results on the areas assigned and status follow-up for all pending tasks.
Lead the communication process with hourly associates and skilled trades through daily crew talks as per the Grupo Bimbo Maintenance Model.
Lead implementation of TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) for the areas of responsibility.
Support implementation of capital investment projects through execution and supervision of CAPEX initiatives assigned by the Maintenance Manager.
Monitor maintenance spending and ensure effective utilization of labor, contractors, spare parts inventory and maintenance budgets.
Understand production requirements and implement day-to-day actions to address operating issues by ensuring open and effective communication with all other departments. (This may require you to work flexible schedules in coordination with the Maintenance Manager).
