Are you the one we're looking for?

We are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated RELIEF CLEANER who demonstrates our values of compassion, accountability, responsiveness and empowerment; to our clients, families and each other.

The RELIEF CLEANER is to ensure a high standard of cleanliness and neatness of Wesley's buildings in Hamilton and Halton, including common areas, program spaces, client bedrooms, and outdoor grounds. The Cleaner performs general housekeeping activities within the established guidelines for health and safety, infection control, and quality management.

Our cleaning services are 7 days a week, including holidays, and we are seeking candidates with flexible availability.

This is a unionized relief position with a pay rate of $19.00 per hour. Shifts are scheduled on an as-needed basis to support operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform cleaning and sanitizing of residential and office facilities, ensuring all areas remain clean, orderly, well stocked, and compliant with organizational health, safety, and operational standards while providing a welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

Complete routine and detailed daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning checklists, special cleaning requests (e.g. deep cleans) and maintain accurate cleaning logs and records in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Use various types of cleaning equipment (such as mops, brooms, and vacuums, etc.), supplies and approved chemicals to complete required tasks.

Perform repetitive physical tasks (including standing, walking, bending, pushing, reaching, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 30 lbs.) while maintaining safe work practices and adhering to all health and safety requirements.

Work in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments, adapting to changing conditions such as heat, cold, humidity, noise, wet surfaces, and other environmental factors.

Adhere to all health and safety procedures related to the identification, handling, reporting, and disposal of hazards, including chemicals, sharps, pests, airborne contaminants, and biohazardous materials.

Interact with other staff, visitors, and clients accessing the programs in a welcoming and professional manner, following policies and procedures.

Work with volunteers and staff in a team approach and participate in all mandatory training and team meetings.

Follow all Wesley policies and procedures and report issues to the next line of supervision in a timely manner.

What you will bring:

Minimum high school diploma with further courses in janitorial, hygiene and infection control an asset.

Two (2) years' experience in cleaning roles maintaining similar facilities
