What is the Opportunity
Aecon Utilities, a recognized leader in the market with strong self‑perform capabilities and deep local expertise, is building and enhancing Utilities and Energy Transition infrastructure across Canada, the U.S., and an expanding international footprint. We are seeking a qualified Planner Scheduler for a project in Hamilton. This role is fully onsite and supports the planning and scheduling of large‑scale infrastructure projects.
WhatYou'll Do
- Performs and/or coordinates, collects, verifies, and integrates the work scope for all entities into the total project plan.
- Reviews the representation of project scope in schedules.
- Develops and maintains all required project schedules, ensuring data integrity across the entire life cycle.
- Creates and implements key scheduling requirements such as bespoke activity coding, naming conventions, client requirements management protocol, project calendars, and resource and plant data libraries.
- Supports resource planning and analysis.
- Forecasts resource requirements—including labor, materials, and equipment—based on work front analysis.
- Performs productivity analysis of construction operations and verifies accuracy.
- Establishes productivity basis for estimates and reviews labor estimates for reasonableness.
- Prepares progress reports and dashboards to provide status updates to internal and external clients.
- Analyzes schedule variance, float, and trending, monitoring schedule KPIs.
- Develops progress measurement processes, analyzing data for performance.
- Manages schedule change notices, forecasts project impact, and implements corrective action when trends deviate from baseline.
- Performs audits on subcontractor schedules and prepares requisite output documents.
- Collaborates with cross‑functional teams to maintain, add, or modify schedule data and plans.
- Supports 5D schedule integration with 3D models, reporting outputs including cash flow and sequence simulations.
- 5 to 7 years of experience in project planning/scheduling in the construction industry.
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering is considered an asset.
- Proficiency in computer scheduling programs such as Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
- Experience with Synchro and TILOS preferred.
- Contractor and infrastructure project experience developing mid‑size project schedules is preferred.
- Exposure to cost, earned value, and EOT claims is preferred.
- Ability to deliver under stringent timelines.
$70,000 - $95,000 per year.
