Job Description

The Production Operator sets up, operates, and troubleshoots highly automated packaging line equipment in a fast-paced, GMP-compliant manufacturing facility. This role ensures products meet quality standards, supports smooth line operation alongside packagers, and maintains accurate production records while following strict health, safety, and sanitation protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Set up packaging line equipment and perform efficient changeovers to support different products and formats.
  • Start, operate, and stop machines safely to complete production runs and perform basic troubleshooting when issues arise.
  • Monitor packaging lines continuously to ensure they run smoothly and efficiently, working closely with packagers and other team members.
  • Conduct quality checks on weights, labels, packaging, and jams to ensure all products meet required specifications and standards.
  • Use computers and scales to accurately enter and record data such as product weights and production metrics.
  • Complete all required production, quality, and compliance paperwork accurately and on time.
  • Perform sanitation tasks as necessary to maintain a clean and safe production area in line with GMP standards.
  • Enforce and follow Health and Safety protocols at all times, including proper use of PPE and safe machine operation.
  • Apply a strong understanding of GMP protocols and ensure compliance on the production floor.
  • Lead or support the operation of a production line, contributing to coordination of tasks and workflow as needed.
  • Lift and move materials up to 30 lbs repeatedly as part of routine production and packaging activities.
  • Assist with labelling, packing, and quality assurance activities to support overall production output and product integrity.

Essential Skills

  • At least 3 years of machine operating experience on a packaging line.
  • Proven experience with basic troubleshooting of production or packaging equipment.
  • Strong English communication skills, including reading and writing, to follow instructions and complete documentation.
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs repetitively and perform physically demanding tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience operating and monitoring automated production or packaging lines.
  • Strong understanding of Health and Safety protocols in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and the ability to enforce GMP standards on the production floor.
  • Comfort working in a very fast-paced, high-volume production environment.
  • Experience leading or coordinating activities on a production line.
  • Familiarity with quality control and quality assurance processes in a production setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with general machine operation and line operation in a manufacturing or packaging environment.
  • Exposure to HMI (Human-Machine Interface) systems for operating automated equipment.
  • Experience in packaging, labelling, and packing processes.
  • Experience with general labor tasks in a production facility.
  • Forklift experience or comfort working around material handling equipment.
  • Comfort using computers and scales to input and track production data.
  • Knowledge of GMP-compliant environments and associated documentation practices.
