Job Description
This role involves creating and revising detailed mechanical drawings for automated equipment and machinery. The candidate will interpret and refine existing engineering designs into production‑ready documentation while applying GD&T principles to ensure proper tolerancing and fit of components. The drafter will develop detailed drawings for sheet metal components, welded assemblies, extrusion‑based frames, robotic systems, automation cells, servo‑driven mechanisms, and assembly drawings for sub‑assemblies such as pick‑and‑place systems and Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs).
Collaboration with engineers and internal teams is essential for in‑house automation builds, maintaining drawing standards, revision control, and documentation accuracy.
- Create and revise detailed mechanical drawings for automated equipment and machinery.
- Interpret and refine existing engineering designs into production‑ready documentation.
- Apply GD&T principles to ensure proper tolerancing and fit of components.
- Develop detailed drawings for sheet metal components, welded assemblies, extrusion‑based frames, robotic systems, and automation cells.
- Produce and maintain assembly drawings, including sub‑assemblies such as pick‑and‑place systems and Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs).
- Ensure proper part positioning, alignment, and fit within larger assemblies.
- Collaborate with engineers and internal teams to support in‑house automation builds.
- Maintain drawing standards, revision control, and documentation accuracy.
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical drafting or design support.
- Strong proficiency in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- Advanced experience with Solid Works.
- Proven ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
- Strong understanding of mechanical components, assemblies, and manufacturing processes.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience detailing sheet metal, weldments, and mechanical assemblies.
- Ability to interpret engineering designs and convert them into detailed manufacturing drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to drawing accuracy.
This role is set within a dynamic, hands‑on automation and machinery build environment where engineering concepts are actively translated into real‑world manufacturing solutions. You will work closely with mechanical engineers, automation specialists, and shop floor teams, supporting the development and refinement of custom automated systems used directly in production settings. The environment is fast‑paced and project‑driven, emphasizing collaboration, precision, and practical execution.

Contract position based out of Ancaster, ON.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 – $35.00 per hour.
