Job Description & How to Apply Below

Join a Company That's Growing

Press Lock Technologies (PLT) designs and builds custom industrial machinery for manufacturers across North America. Every machine we build is evolving, and getting those machines fully assembled, tested, and shipped is the most important part of what we do.

We are looking for a hands‑on Manufacturing Build Lead whose primary responsibility is to drive machine builds through the shop and ensure they are completed and shipped. This is a build‑first role. When work slows or bottlenecks appear, you will step directly into assembly work to keep production moving.

This role also includes hands‑on production leadership on the shop floor
, ensuring priorities are clear, parts and sub‑assemblies are progressing, and machines are continuously moving toward completion.

Over time, you will also help improve the practical systems that support production—always grounded in what is happening on the shop floor.

If you take pride in finishing complex machines, solving problems in real time, and making sure nothing stalls in production, this role is for you.

About the Role

This is a working leadership position focused on machine assembly, production flow, and getting machines out the door.

You will work closely with engineering, purchasing, and the shop team to ensure builds progress efficiently from start to shipment.

This role is ideal for someone who prefers being on the floor, close to the work, and directly involved in making things happen.

Responsibilities
  • Drive machine builds through the shop from assembly to final shipment
  • Actively manage build progress to ensure parts, sub-assemblies, and open tasks are continuously moving
  • Step directly into machine assembly work when needed to remove bottlenecks and keep builds on track
  • Coordinate daily production activities and help establish clear shop priorities
  • Use the ERP system as a tracking tool to monitor build status and keep work flowing
  • Maintain practical work instructions and assembly guidance based on real build experience
  • Support quality checks during assembly to ensure machines leave the shop complete and correct
  • Work closely with engineering to resolve build issues and improve manufacturability
  • Support inventory awareness and ensure missing or delayed parts are identified early
  • Mentor and support team members through hands‑on guidance during builds
  • Identify recurring production issues and implement practical shop‑floor improvements
  • Help improve workflow organization so machines move through the shop more efficiently
What We're Looking For

We are not looking for someone who wants to sit behind a desk or simply assign work. We are looking for someone who wants to be directly involved in building machines and making sure they get finished.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in a hands‑on manufacturing or machine assembly environment
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to assemble and troubleshoot machinery
  • A natural ability to organize work and keep projects moving forward
  • Comfort taking responsibility for outcomes and solving problems directly
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and follow complex assembly processes
  • Experience using ERP or MRP systems as a tracking and coordination tool (or willingness to learn)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with a small team

Experience in the following is considered an asset:

  • Custom machinery, automation, or equipment assembly
  • Fabrication or machining experience
  • Production coordination or lead hand experience
  • Lean manufacturing concepts (practical, not theoretical)
  • Creating or improving work instructions or assembly processes
The Kind of Person Who Will Enjoy This Role

You don’t wait for problems to escalate—you step in and fix them.

You engage in constructive debate to solve problems, not to be proven right.

You like being on the shop floor where things are actually happening.

You naturally organize work so jobs get finished efficiently.

You take ownership of outcomes, not just tasks.

You prefer solving real production problems over sitting in meetings.

You’re comfortable jumping between assembly, coordination, and problem-solving as needed to keep work moving.
