We are currently recruiting a dedicated Manufacturing Engineer to support and drive operational excellence for a dynamic manufacturing and repair shop environment. In this role, the Manufacturing Engineer will optimize production processes, lead continuous improvement projects, and help maintain high standards for safety, quality, and efficiency.
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional operations teams, management, and unionized employees to evaluate workflows, reduce operational waste, and implement innovative engineering solutions. Responsibilities
• Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing and repair processes through data review, process evaluation, and root cause investigations.
• Manage continuous improvement projects from initial business justification through implementation and operational handover.
• Perform value stream mapping activities to streamline shop workflows, optimize efficiency, and eliminate operational waste.
• Develop, document, and implement standardized operating procedures to support productivity, product quality, and cost-efficiency targets.
• Evaluate, test, and implement new manufacturing technologies and automation initiatives.
• Support full compliance with safety, quality, and relevant industry regulations across all manufacturing operations.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive continuous operational improvement and track project success.
• Collaborate effectively with operations teams, management, unionized personnel, and external partners.
Qualifications
• Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing practices and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Proficiency in CAD software and Microsoft Office applications.
• Demonstrated value stream mapping, workflow optimization, and root cause analysis capabilities.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Ability to collaborate constructively within a unionized manufacturing environment.
• Must possess valid work authorization to work in Canada.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• 3+ years of professional engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven experience with Lean manufacturing practices and CAD applications.
• Prior experience working within a unionized shop environment is considered an asset.
• Experience supporting construction or facility improvement projects is considered an asset.
