POSITION LOCATION:

OWEN SOUND

UNION AFFILIATION: ONA

STATUS: FULL-TIME, TEMPORARY (APPROX. END DATE MAY 2026)

WAGE RATE: $63.66 - $80.21

The Nurse Practitioner will provide primary care, consultative services and care planning for patients with a mental health or addiction diagnosis. Through clinical consultation, staff education and research, the Nurse Practitioner will promote best practices in mental health and addiction care for inpatients and outpatients. The Nurse Practitioner will demonstrate leadership in evidence-based practice, participate in quality improvement and act as a mentor to nurses and other interprofessional colleagues.

Skills/Abilities/Qualifications

– Required
  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse in the Extended Class (EC)
  • Current controlled substance education or willing to obtain
  • ACLS/BCLS or willing to obtain
  • Advanced clinical knowledge and implementation of evidence-based practice
  • Superior interpersonal, coaching, and leadership skills
  • Excellent decision making, problem recognition and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office & electronic medical records
  • A strong desire and capacity to promote professional practice, recovery model and excellence
  • Valid Driver’s license and access to a reliable insurable vehicle
  • Ability to travel to venues outside of assigned site
  • Recent satisfactory performance and attendance record
  • Adherence to Brightshores ‘CARE’ Behaviours (Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence) and ‘LEAD’ Competencies (Lead by example, Empower, Achieve results, Develop others) and a commitment to a safe workplace free of violence and harassment
  • Advocates and supports a culture of patient safety and demonstrates an understanding of how the department service and assigned responsibilities contribute to overall patient safety at Brightshores through patient safety knowledge, skills and attitudes
Preferred
  • Five (5) years or more of current expertise in the care of the adult population experiencing mental health or Addiction issues
