In 2020, Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) and St. Joseph's Hospital Hamilton (SJHH) opened the Satellite Health Facility (SHF), a temporary facility in downtown Hamilton to increase local healthcare capacity during the COVID-19 pandemic. Located at 150 King St.
E. in Effort Square, the SHF supports patients waiting for community care while reserving in‑hospital space for urgent needs. It is staffed by interprofessional clinical teams and primary care physicians.

Saturday & Sunday (0700‑1900 hrs)
- Payrate: $19.66/hr

- Provide proactive and reactive security patrols and respond to incidents during assigned shifts.
- Display excellent customer service skills and assist people under stress or in need of medical assistance.
- Be physically fit, able to stand and walk for long periods.
- Perform preventative and reactive duties, including interior and exterior patrols.
- Provide security escort service to staff and visitors as requested.
- Maintain accurate logs and notebook entries of all shift activity and calls for service.
- Write accurate reports upon investigations or reportable occurrences in a timely manner.
- Investigate and follow up on incidents, conduct report writing, door opening requests, and CCTV camera reviews.
- Warn individuals of rule infractions or violations, and apprehend or evict violators from premises, using force when necessary.
- Handle office duties such as issuance, key distribution, and lost and found.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Valid Security License for the province of Ontario.
- Valid First Aid & CPR Level C from a WSIB approved provider.
- Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella, two doses of Covid vaccine, and a two‑step TB skin test.
- English (oral and written) fluency.
- One year of experience in healthcare security or law enforcement.
- Legal authorization to work in Canada.
- Degree in Police Foundations, Protection Security and Investigations, Criminology, or Border Services is an asset.
- Ability to provide a clean‑shaven face to pass an N95 mask fit test.
- Capacity to walk or climb stairs throughout the premises for extended periods.
- Certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB).
- Applicants lacking UOF/MOAB certifications may opt into Paladin’s training program before onboarding.
