Weekend Family Support Worker

Join Good Shepherd as a Family Support Worker during weekends with rotating shifts. Engage in direct support for families facing various challenges and create impactful connections.
As a Family Support Worker at Good Shepherd’s Family Centre, you will support service users through crisis intervention, housing case management, and guidance. You will conduct residential tasks and ensure the safety and security of the shelter. Additionally, you will aid clients in overcoming barriers they face while respecting their confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide assessment and supportive counseling for families
• Conduct facility checks and maintain safety standards
• Assist clients with housing-related appointments
• Carry out laundry, unit turnovers, and inspections
• Collaborate with community services for long-term success
Requirements:
• Post-secondary education in Social Services required
• 1+ year experience in community outreach or emergency shelter
• Knowledge of issues impacting families like homelessness
• Trauma-informed approach and experience with HIFIS preferred
• CPR certification or willingness to be certified
