Join Good Shepherd as a Shelter Support Worker and play a vital role in the community! This position helps provide essential shelter and support services to those experiencing homelessness.
The Shelter Support Worker is critical for fostering a dignified environment for unhoused male identified individuals. Working evenings, from 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., you will use your commitment to hospitality and adaptability to support individuals facing various challenges, including mental illness and substance abuse issues. A foundation in trauma-informed care is required.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver emergency shelter support to clients
• Utilize Housing First principles in assistance
• Communicate effectively and professionally with clients
• Ensure comfort and safety for everyone accessing services
• Carry your own client caseload and develop personalized plans
Requirements:
• Relevant post-secondary education or lived experience
• Good knowledge of local social services and resources
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Valid CPR certification and excellent conflict resolution abilities
• Dedication to anti-racism and workplace safety practices
