Position: Employment Counselor at YWCA
Empower job seekers with YWCA Hamilton as an Employment Counselor. This temporary position combines counseling, job training, and support for individuals facing barriers in a 37.5-hour work week.

As an Employment Counselor, you will support clients by providing personalized job search strategies and training. This role focuses on individuals with self-identified barriers, enhancing their employability through effective coaching and resource connections. You will play a crucial role in creating equitable opportunities tailored to each client's unique needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support job seekers with resume building and interview preparation

• Conduct needs assessments and create employment action plans

• Negotiate training and subsidy agreements with employers

• Track client progress and document activities

• Assist employers with job maintenance and workplace accommodations

Requirements:

• 2 years in counseling or human resources experience

• Completion of 2 years’ college in relevant fields

• Current Mental Health First Aid certification or willingness to obtain

• Ability to work on-site including some evenings or weekends

• Demonstrate excellent communication skills
