Become a Supportive Housing Advocate at Good Shepherd’s Dorothy Day Place. Assist individuals in overcoming barriers to housing while promoting safety and community integration.
This position centers on supporting marginalized individuals, particularly cis women, trans, and non-binary persons, to navigate their housing journey. You'll employ a trauma-informed approach, engage in care planning, and empower participants through self-help initiatives rooted in harm reduction principles.
Key Responsibilities:
• Establish individualized care and safety plans with participants
• Provide educational support on mental health and trauma
• Participate in case conferences and community support appointments
• Maintain a welcoming environment for all clients
• Adhere to health and safety policies in caregiving
Requirements:
• Minimum of one year in social service roles
• Completion of a related post-secondary program
• Knowledge of feminist and client-directed care frameworks
• Experience with in the homelessness sector
• CPR certification or readiness to obtain it
Make a profound difference in the lives of those facing housing instability as a Supportive Housing Advocate.
