Engage in the excitement of horse racing as a Starting Gate Driver at Woodbine Entertainment Group. Drive the starting gate with precision and ensure safety at all times.
Your role involves checking the gate's condition before races and driving it during events while closely following the performance of the horses. Familiarity with horse racing rules and procedures is essential for success, alongside your ability to work in high-pressure situations. Support the Starter in managing track incidents effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
• Inspect the starting gate’s functionality prior to races
• Drive the starting gate safely during each racing event
• Follow the race field throughout the track
• Aid the Starter during any accidents or incidents
Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent mandatory
• Comprehensive knowledge of horse racing industry regulations
• Must possess a valid driver's license
• Harness racing experience is preferred
• Ability to make decisions effectively in varied situations
