Transportation Planner
Parrish & Heimbecker, Limited (P&H) is seeking a motivated, forward-thinking and dedicated individual to serve as a Transportation Planner for P&H Milling in Hamilton, ON.

The Transportation Planner will design and implement efficient transportation strategies to enhance the delivery of our products. The role involves analyzing transportation needs, optimizing routes, and coordinating with various stakeholders to ensure smooth operations. It also requires developing and maintaining relationships with internal customers as well as 3PL carriers.
Day to Day- Scheduling bulk deliveries daily, addressing and resolving shipment issues
- Managing tendering loads to 3PL carriers, monitoring and managing accessorial charges
- Collaborating with other internal and external departments and working within tight deadlines set by Customer Service and the Flour Mills
- Coordinating with Maintenance Planner and arranging truck and tanker drop offs for repairs, maintenance and internal/external washes
- Handling payroll activities for all company drivers
- Managing 3PL Carrier performance
- 5+ years of experience in planning/dispatching local drivers or load planning
- Experience with pneumatic multi-axle tankers, rail tankers and domestic intermodal deliveries is an asset
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions
- Intermodal rail and bulk rail experience is an asset
- Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS);
Descartes experience is beneficial, and Microsoft Office Suite - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal teams and external partners
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Knowledge of industry regulations and safety standards
- Working knowledge of commercial transportation legal regulations including Ontario Highway Traffic Act and HOS requirements
- Descartes TMS knowledge
- Samsara fleet management knowledge
- Ability to independently handle multiple projects
- Excellent communication, negotiating and customer service skills
