Trainee Accountant – FMCG (Food Production)

Lusona is supporting a well-established Lanarkshire-based organisation within the FMCG food production sector to recruit a Trainee Accountant
. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious finance graduate or early-career candidate to gain hands‑on experience within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment
.

Working as part of a small and supportive finance team, you will gain valuable exposure across financial accounting, cost accounting and manufacturing processes
. This role offers a strong foundation for a long‑term career in accountancy, with practical experience in a dynamic and high‑volume production setting.

• Assist with day‑to‑day financial transactions and accounting records
• Process purchase invoices, supplier payments and customer receipts
• Support bank reconciliations and cash management
• Assist with month‑end and year‑end close processes
• Help prepare management accounts and financial reports
• Support budgeting and forecasting activities
• Assist with cost analysis including materials, labour and overheads
• Support inventory management, stock reconciliations and stock counts
• Reconcile supplier and customer accounts
• Assist with VAT, audit support and compliance processes
• Work collaboratively with production, procurement and sales teams

• HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Accounting, Finance or related field
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
• Good understanding of basic accounting principles
• Excellent attention to detail and strong numerical skills
• Highly organised with the ability to meet deadlines
• Strong communication skills and a team‑oriented approach
• Eagerness to learn and develop within a finance career

Desirable:

• Exposure to accounting systems or ERP software
• Interest or understanding of manufacturing / cost accounting

• Gain hands‑on experience in a growing FMCG food production environment
• Broad exposure across finance including costing and manufacturing accounting
