Personnel Assistant

Location:

Council Headquarters, Hamilton

Hours:

35 hours per week, fixed term until January 2027

Work Pattern:
Monday - Thursday 8.45am - 4.45pm, Friday 8.45am - 4.15pm

Salary: £28,340 - £33,231 per year

A temporary vacancy has arisen for a Personnel Assistant within Personnel Services, Finance and Corporate Resources to cover a period of maternity leave. This is an exciting opportunity to join our team and provide proactive support to employees and managers in relation to a wide range of HR related enquiries and policy matters.

Overview

You will be responsible for co‑ordinating the workload of a small team of Clerical Assistants within our busy HR transactions team. The team are responsible for liaising closely with employees and line managers to process complex changes to employees' contracts of employment and pay, in line with agreed timescales.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the workload of Clerical Assistants.
  • Process complex changes to employee contracts of employment and pay.
  • Maintain high customer service standards and meet deadlines.
  • Work confidentially and exercise discretion.
  • Collaborate effectively with employees and line managers.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience working in a busy, customer‑focused environment.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work under pressure.
  • Teamwork skills; high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Supervisory experience is an advantage but not essential.
  • Proactive, resilient, quick learner.
