Band 2 £ 25,694 to £27,900 per annum

Distant Islands Allowance £1,406 per annum

37 hours per week

Join our dedicated team at the Western Isles Dental Centre as a member of the Public Dental Service and play a key role in delivering high‑quality patient care. As the first point of contact for patients and visitors, you’ll provide a professional and welcoming reception service, manage appointment bookings, and support the smooth running of our clinics.

• Schedule and manage patient appointments using the EXACT system
• Handle telephone and face‑to‑face enquiries with professionalism and empathy
• Process payments and maintain accurate patient records
• Support urgent dental triage and coordinate with clinical teams
• Ensure compliance with NHS confidentiality, data protection, and health & safety standards

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Competent with IT systems and keyboard use
• Be professional, courteous and patient focussed
• Have a calm and professional manner, being able to manage challenging situation
• Well organised with time management skills
• Previous reception or administrative experience, particularly in a health care setting, is desirable

As from 1/4/2026, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part‑time hours will be adjusted on a pro‑rata basis.
