Hamilton College is a non-denominational Christian Independent School for children and young people from the ages of 2-18. The school encompasses Nursery, Junior and Senior levels generating a truly ‘family’ atmosphere for the individual as they journey through the school. Christian values underpin everything we aim to do in the school.
We are seeking a dedicated and organised individual to take on the role of Chief Invigilator starting in August 2026. The successful candidate will initially work as an Invigilator shadowing our current Chief Invigilator to gain experience and ensure a smooth transition to the role.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to step into a leadership role within the examinations process within an independent school.
The successful candidate will be responsible for -
- Managing and coordinating the invigilation team
- Ensuring all examinations are conducted in accordance with Qualifications Scotland regulations (formally SQA) and School guidelines
- Handling examination material securely and maintaining confidentiality
- Responding to any issues during examinations promptly and professionally
The successful candidate should have the following attributes -
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Attention to detail and ability to follow processes
- Reliability, integrity, and discretion
- Calm under pressure
The successful applicant must either be an existing member of the PVG Scheme or be prepared to join this scheme and prove their right to work in the UK before commencement of employment. An offer of employment will be subject to two satisfactory references and a clean report from Disclosure Scotland PVG Scheme.

Start date: August 2026 however we would like the successful candidate to join Hamilton College as an Invigilator in the exam diet from 22 April – 02 June inclusive.
