A nurturing and inclusive Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Midsomer Norton is seeking a committed and compassionate Behaviour Support Assistant to join their team. The school supports students with a variety of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, and SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) challenges. As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you’ll work closely with students who require tailored guidance to engage positively with their learning and environment.

Key Responsibilities – Behaviour Support Assistant:
  • Support students with behavioural, emotional, and social difficulties, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of personalised behaviour management strategies.
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social interaction skills.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff and external professionals to track and support pupil progress.
  • Help maintain a structured, supportive, and calm learning environment.

As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you’ll play a key role in helping students overcome barriers to learning, gain confidence, and feel valued. Your role will be crucial in helping children develop strategies to cope with challenges and thrive both socially and academically.

Who we’re looking For – Behaviour Support Assistant:
  • Someone with a calm, empathetic, and consistent approach
  • Experience in education, care, psychology, youth work, or similar is desirable but not essential
  • A proactive attitude and the ability to remain composed in challenging situations
  • A genuine passion for working with children and young people with SEN
  • A DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
