Openshift Architect

Location: Remote (UK-based)

Duration: 10-month initial contract

Engagement: Inside IR35

We are seeking an experienced Open Shift Architect to join a leading financial services organisation on an initial 10-month contract. This role is fully remote (UK-based) and sits inside IR35.

This position is an architect/engineer hybrid, requiring deep product knowledge of Open Shift from end to end, combined with strong hands‑on engineering capability. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping, developing, and embedding solutions and business processes on a newly established Open Shift platform within a regulated enterprise environment.

• Act as the Open Shift platform architect, owning design and technical direction
• Provide hands‑on engineering expertise across the full Open Shift stack
• Design, build, and evolve solutions on a newly implemented Open Shift platform
• Develop and embed platform standards, operating models, and business processes
• Define architecture patterns, guardrails, and best practices for Open Shift usage
• Collaborate with product, engineering, security, and infrastructure teams
• Support integration with enterprise systems and tooling
• Drive automation, scalability, resilience, and security across the platform
• Contribute to platform governance and compliance in a regulated financial services environment
• Provide technical documentation and knowledge transfer

• Strong end‑to‑end expertise in Red Hat Open Shift (architecture, design, implementation, operations)
• Proven experience in an architect/engineering hybrid role within enterprise environments
• Deep hands‑on experience with Kubernetes and containerised platforms
• Experience building new platforms and defining operating models
• Strong understanding of platform security and enterprise governance
• Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions

• Broader infrastructure knowledge including:
• VMware
• Windows Server
• Enterprise hardware environments
• Automation & Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Terraform)
• CI/CD tooling and Dev Ops practices
• Experience in financial services or other regulated industries

• Strong technical leader with hands‑on credibility
• Able to operate strategically while remaining delivery‑focused
• Comfortable working within regulated enterprise environments
• Strong communicator across architecture, engineering, and business stakeholders
